Go Marlins!
We have found it hard to pay much attention to anything but the exceptionally low attendance in Miami thus far. This week-end, however, we will be tracking the lowly Marlins hoping for a strong series (how about a sweep?) against the overrated Washington Nationals. Rumor has it that the National's GM Mark Rizzo is using this series to help make final decisions about either selling Bryce Harper and/or some pitchers and pushing the reset button for 2019. The otherwise dull month of August in sports would be improved with less social media focus on the Nationals, more on the upstart but for real Oakland A's.
The Marlins are not the only bad team we are obvserving: we are also tracking the Rangers with Bartolo Colon's historic attempt to become in the most winning Latin American pitcher in history. Soon after these matters are resolved, the quality of sport will stabilize with the start of the Premier League Aug 10, the Vuelta a Espana pro bike race Aug 25... Raymond L. Williams
